Explain how the social justice principle of equity could be applied in a health promotion program for a rural community.
Show model answer and marking criteria
Model answer. Equity means allocating resources according to need, so groups facing greater disadvantage get more support. Rural communities often have fewer GPs and specialists and must travel long distances for care. An equitable program could fund visiting specialist clinics and telehealth services, and provide travel subsidies, so rural residents can access care comparable to people in cities.
A full-marks answer:
- Defines equity as allocating resources fairly according to need
- Identifies a rural need, e.g. limited access to GPs or specialists
- Explains a specific equitable action, e.g. outreach clinics, telehealth, travel subsidies, extra funding

Using an example from sport, explain the difference between flexion and extension and between abduction and adduction.
Show model answer and marking criteria
Model answer. Flexion decreases the angle at a joint and extension increases it: when kicking a football the knee flexes in the backswing and extends to strike the ball. Abduction moves a limb away from the body’s midline and adduction moves it back: in a star jump the arms and legs abduct outwards and then adduct back together.
A full-marks answer:
- Flexion decreases the joint angle and extension increases it, with a sport example (e.g. knee in kicking)
- Abduction moves a limb away from the midline and adduction towards it, with a sport example (e.g. side-stepping, star jumps)
-

How to study Year 11 PDHPE
Senior PDHPE questions ask you to apply theory: a training method to an athlete, a health promotion strategy to a priority issue. Name the concept, explain how it works in that scenario and support it with data or an example, using the key terms precisely.
Press Study for me and the app builds a 15 to 20 minute session from the cards that are due, the mistakes that are due and questions on your weakest topics. Practice questions come in three levels, and anything you get wrong comes back 1, 3 and 7 days later until you get it right. When an exam is close, sit a timed practice exam with AI marking.
Your state, your exam
PDHPE goes by different names around Australia. In the app the course shows under your state’s name: NSW: PDHPE; VIC, QLD, ACT: Health & PE (PDHPE content); SA, NT: Health and Wellbeing (PDHPE content); WA, TAS: Health Studies (PDHPE content). Where a label says “content”, your state’s course is the closest match rather than the same course, so check the topics against your outline.
When you set up Year 11, you pick your state (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, ACT or NT) and your subjects. The AI then pitches explanations and marking at your certificate’s level. Courses differ between states, so compare the units above with your course outline, and turn your class notes into extra decks for anything that’s different.
