Outline the role of screening in reducing deaths from cancer, using an Australian example.
Show model answer and marking criteria
Model answer. Screening tests people who have no symptoms to detect cancer or pre-cancerous changes early. Finding cancer early means it is smaller and less likely to have spread, so treatment is more successful and survival is much higher. For example, the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program mails free home test kits to Australians aged 50 to 74 every two years, detecting bowel cancers early when they are highly treatable.
A full-marks answer:
- Screening tests people without symptoms to find cancer or pre-cancerous changes early

How to study Year 12 PDHPE
Senior PDHPE questions ask you to apply theory: a training method to an athlete, a health promotion strategy to a priority issue. Name the concept, explain how it works in that scenario and support it with data or an example, using the key terms precisely.
Press Study for me and the app builds a 15 to 20 minute session from the cards that are due, the mistakes that are due and questions on your weakest topics. Practice questions come in three levels, and anything you get wrong comes back 1, 3 and 7 days later until you get it right. When an exam is close, sit a timed practice exam with AI marking.
Your state, your exam
PDHPE goes by different names around Australia. In the app the course shows under your state’s name: NSW: PDHPE; VIC, QLD, ACT: Health & PE (PDHPE content); SA, NT: Health and Wellbeing (PDHPE content); WA, TAS: Health Studies (PDHPE content). Where a label says “content”, your state’s course is the closest match rather than the same course, so check the topics against your outline.
When you set up Year 12, you pick your state (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, ACT or NT) and your subjects. The AI then pitches explanations and marking at your certificate’s level. Courses differ between states, so compare the units above with your course outline, and turn your class notes into extra decks for anything that’s different.
