Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Lock in or buy a pass. By using Lock in you agree to them. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian should read them with you.

The service

Lock in is an online study app for students from Year 7 to uni, available in the browser at lockinstudy.site and as desktop apps for Mac and Windows.

Seller: Lock In, an independent online study service run from Australia. Lock In doesn’t have an ABN and isn’t registered for GST. Contact: hello@lockinstudy.site.

Your account

  • Keep your sign-in details secure. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Give accurate details, and use one account per student.
  • If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission to buy a pass.

Free day and passes

  • Every new account gets one free day with everything unlocked, one per account and per browser. We may change or end the free day for future accounts.
  • A pass unlocks the app for a fixed time: 1 week for A$5 or 3 months for A$20, starting when you pay. Prices are in Australian dollars.
  • Passes are one-time payments. They don’t renew automatically and there’s nothing to cancel.
  • Your key appears straight after paying and is saved to your account once entered or bought while signed in. A pass is for one student. Don’t publish, share widely or resell keys; we may switch off keys that are.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Through Stripe Managed Payments, Stripe is the merchant of record for your purchase, calculates and collects any applicable sales tax, and its checkout terms apply to the payment itself. We never see your card details.

Refunds

You can get a refund within 48 hours of buying if the pass hasn’t been substantially used. Otherwise we don’t give refunds, except where the law requires. See the refund policy.

AI features

  • AI marking, Explain my mistake, Ask AI and writing feedback are generated by AI and can be wrong. A mark from Lock in is a guide, not an official result. Check anything important with your notes or your teacher.
  • There’s a daily limit on AI requests for each pass.
  • Don’t include personal details in AI questions or answers.

Using Lock in fairly

Don’t misuse the service. That includes trying to get around passes or limits, interfering with how it runs, copying or scraping its content in bulk, uploading content you don’t have the right to use, or using it to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.

Content

The notes, flashcards, questions and design of Lock in belong to us or are used with permission. You can use them for your own study. Anything you create or upload, such as your own decks, stays yours; you let us store and process it so the app can work for you.

We work hard to make the study content accurate, but it can contain mistakes and may not match exactly what your school teaches. If you spot an error, please tell us.

Changes to the service

We’re always improving Lock in, so features may change. If we ever close Lock in completely while you have an active paid pass, we’ll offer a refund for the unused time.

Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Apart from those rights, and to the extent the law allows, we provide Lock in as it is and we aren’t liable for indirect losses, such as a result in a school assessment.

Law and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by the laws in force in Australia. If we change them, we’ll update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app before they apply.
