An AI tutor for Years 7–12 and uni
Lock in explains things when you are stuck, quizzes you on what you just learned, tells you what your written answer was missing, and then gives you the next question to try. Ready at 10 pm the night before a test.
What a tutor does, and what Lock in does
A good tutor does four things: explains what you don’t get, checks you understood it, marks your work honestly, and decides what you should practise next. Lock in does each of those for students from Year 7 to Year 12 and uni.
- Explains. Ask AI knows the notes for the topic you are on. Ask it a question, or tap “Explain this topic like I’m 10”.
- Checks. Tap “Quiz me with 3 questions” and it tests you on that topic straight away.
- Marks. Write a full answer and the AI marks it against the question’s criteria, with a note on what was missing.
- Decides what’s next. Study for me picks your weakest topics and sets questions at the right level.
When you get it wrong
Getting a question wrong is the most useful moment in studying, if something happens next. In Lock in, Explain my mistake looks at the answer you gave and explains where your thinking went off track and how to get to the right answer, in plain language and with working for maths.
The question then goes on your mistakes list. It comes back 1, 3 and 7 days later until you get it right three times, so the same slip doesn’t cost you marks in the real exam.
By year
Year 7
The jump to high school brings new subjects all at once. Short notes and flashcards help build the habit of studying a little each day. Start with Year 7 Science practice questions or Year 7 History practice questions.
Year 8
Topics get more abstract, especially in Maths and Science. Levels that step up as you get questions right keep the work hard enough without being discouraging. Try Year 8 Maths practice questions.
Year 9
Written answers start carrying more marks. AI marking against criteria shows what a full-marks answer needs. See Year 9 English practice questions and Year 9 History practice questions.
Year 10
Exams get longer and more formal. Timed practice exams with AI marking help you practise under real conditions. Try Year 10 Maths practice questions.
What it isn’t
Lock in is not a person. It can’t see your class work or talk to your teacher, and AI answers and marking can make mistakes. Use it to practise between lessons, and take anything confusing back to your teacher.
It also won’t write your assignments. It is built to make you answer the questions yourself, because that is what builds the skill.

Questions
- Is an AI tutor as good as a real tutor?
- Not for everything. A person can see your work in class and talk to your teacher. An AI tutor is useful for the hours in between: explaining a topic again, quizzing you, and marking practice answers whenever you study.
- How much does the Lock in AI tutor cost?
- Every new account gets one free day. After that, a pass is A$5 for a week or A$20 for three months, paid once with no auto-renew, and covers every subject for your year.
- Which years and subjects does it cover?
- Year 7 to uni: every core subject from Year 7, full Year 11–12 courses, and any other subject or uni unit built from your own notes. New subjects are added as they are finished; the subjects page lists what is available now.
- Can the AI tutor make mistakes?
- Yes. AI answers and marking can be wrong. Check anything that looks off against your notes or ask your teacher.
